Atlanta Day 7

8:00 AM -- Everything was pretty much a blur from 8 AM to 5 PM. This was by far the busiest day of the conference.

6:00 PM -- I am waiting in the hotel loading zone for my friend, Meri, to come pick me up. A lady from the conference walks up to me and starts talking about some project that we worked on. In my head I start thinking that I've only really worked on one project, but she doesn't look like the lady I remember. However, I had only really met her once in passing. Back in reality she is going on about, "When is it going to be available?" "What have they done about it?" etc. Because she never says her name or any specific detail about the project all I can manage to respond with it vague stuff. Like, "I think they are still working on it." She asked if it was going to be on "the portal", I said back, "No I think they were going to put it on a difference system." So I must have BS'ed my way around every little detail well enough.

6:30 PM -- I made it to Meri's after sitting in traffic for a while. We chatted it up along with her roommate, whom I might add has good taste in books. Meri's cat is named Tyson... very similar to my name if you are keeping track of those details. He was nice but nothing like Zero.

8:00 PM -- ... ok some time after 8, I was a little late. I met up with Riley and we headed over to the "Sting Break" concert. This years performeres were Cake and Big Boi. I never went to these concerts when I was in school because the bands stucked. Then last year they get Ludacris. So I was glad the bands this year were decent. Riley and I did have to sneak past the bouncer dude so we could get better seats with David and Brandi. The show ended up being ok. Cake was good and Big Boi had several "guests" with him. Too bad I didn't know them other wise it might have been more interesting.

Late -- Met up with Paul and Jen after spotting them exiting the show. They gave me a lift back to my hotel.

Pictures from Tuesday night and Thursday Night can be found here.

  • Is "Sting Break" the concert that's held in the Burger Bowl? It used to be called "Festival Behind the Fence" when I was there. Our bands normally sucked too. The only I even remember was "They Might be Giants"

  • They had it in the coliseum for the last two year (I think). And before that is was in Yellow Jacket park or on the campanile.

  • I'm aging myself! Yellow Jacket park didn't exist until after I graduated. The old crappy architecture building (Hightower) was still there and in use. There were rumors that it would be torn down for a park...I think it was torn down the year after I left. I'm sure Tech is so much nicer now then it was in my days.

  • It's getting better but there is still lots of construction.
