and then I got mad...

I don't know why this story hit a nerve in me but it did.

Japanese princess weds commoner

"Japan's Princess Sayako has lost her royal status after she married commoner Yoshiki Kuroda, in a ceremony in Tokyo."

I think the word "commoner" offends me. That and the fact that she got a "royal allowance." She loses it now that she isn't going to be "royal" anymore, but the fact that she had it before and that other family members still get it seems archaic to me. I was raised to know that you have to work and earn your money, things, etc.

Perhaps it's a good thing I didn't live under the feudal system, I'd probably have revolted.

Another things that seems looney to me is that the ex-princess's husband was "a descendant of Japan's now-abolished aristocracy." If they abolished the aristocracy why didn't the whole royal family thing go with it? If it's all a big tradition, then fine... go ahead and have it, but don't give them lots of money for just being lucky at birth. Civil War reenactors don't get paid lots of money for following their heritage. They dress-up in old clothes and pretend to kill each other because it's fun. If countries want to have their royal family's and such, let 'em. But make those mooks get a day job. Then on the weekends they can play dress-up, be royal, and have ceremonies because it's a fun thing to do...

  • It's all in how you carry yourself. I'm sure I'm a "commoner," but try to treat myself like royalty whenever possible. People get mad when I ask them to kiss my ring, though.

  • D - I remember a time when two groups of people were separated by titles and it was bad times... masters & slaves! Heck, why use "commoner" why just say what all those "royalty" are thinking... peasants!

I - I don't make people kiss the ring, but if people just did what I said when I said it then everything would be peachy... I need some royal power!

Word Verification = "jedmxjgk" aka "jedi magic"
